Outdoor spaces in healthcare, tailored to the needs of patients and healthcare workers

Prostorož /
LOCATION: UKC Ljubljana

The project is focused on the outdoor areas around the clinics of the University Medical Center of Ljubljana (UKC) and the Oncology Institute from the perspective of users. In the urban planning studio Prostorož, health workers, patients and their relatives were involved in the discussion of space through various methods. Findings of user experience research were applied to four typical public spaces: a square, a street, a promenade and a riverbank. Research resulted in concept plans for the renovation of the ER entrance square, the Ljubljanica river bank near the Oncology Institute, the promenade to the main building of the UKC and part of Zaloška Street.
