Postojna Cave Train Station
3b arhitekti d.o.o. / 2015
LOCATION: Jamska cesta 30, 6230
The architect illuminated the existing hall ambitiously and naturally by removing the wall against the cliff and thus breathing a soul into the space. With restrained monumentality, he created a solemn atmosphere in a space whose main motive is cross-section. Through the new aperture articulated by a new pillar of brushed concrete prisms, the dimmed side light shines through. The dialogue of the smooth surfaces of the stone cladding of the rear façade of the Cave Manor, the subtly reflective sheet metal ceiling, and the steady rhythm of the pillars emphasizes the contrast of the rough cliff against which the space has opened.
