WOODEN PEDESTRIAN AND BYCICLE FOOTBRIDGE

The new footbridge is part of the Bohinj cycle path, which we designed more than ten years ago. It is located between Kamnje and Polje, where the road and the Sava river meet. As the river banks have different heights and features, our aim was to overcome this asymmetry with the calm line of the bridge. This establishes a horizon for crossing, as well as for experiencing the surrounding mountain landscape.
On the left bank, the footbridge ends with a covered section descending to the path. It rests on a pillar fixed to an existing rock in the riverbed. The footbridge also has a side part, directed towards Kamnje and offering a view of Peč.
