Sports centre of Football Association of Slovenia

ARK Arhitektura Krušec d.o.o. / 2015
LOCATION: Predoslje 40b, Kranj

Two pavilions were built next to the football field of the National football centre at Brdo near Kranj, inside the protected area of a regional landscape park which includes the Renaissance Brdo castle. The site was previously occupied by a horse-race track with its stands situated on a green slope. In order to preserve the greenery, this was included in the design of changing rooms, fitness and wellness facilities, storage rooms and other technical facilities serving three football fields. All these areas lie below the green slope, with only the VIP pavilion reaching above it as a transparent volume, made of site-cast white concrete. The transparent construction allows the optical passage of the surroundings through the building, with views from the football fields to the other side of the building.
