Sports hall Kidričevo
Modular arhitekti / 2011
The hall is a good example of a discreet and precisely executed building that is unobtrusively yet convincingly integrated into the surrounding area. The volume of the hall is dug into the terrain. This enables the height of a building to be fully adapted to its surroundings. The above-ground part of the hall is optically lowered with a dynamically horizontal feature of the roof that hovers above the landscape with its dark volume, framing forest views with its frontal overhangs. In the transverse section, the building is transparent and bilaterally perforated with window openings that enable views of the landscape through the hall, which accentuates the sense of hovering, one of the building’s best features.
