Exhibition and sales facility in the concert hall in the Postojna cave

Studio Stratum / 2011
LOCATION: Postojnska jama, Jamska cesta 30, 6230 Postojna

Exhibition and sales area with toilets is built on the site of the old building in the Concert Hall of the cave. Construction took into account the conservation requirements to minimize the impact on the natural values. This dictated the use of appropriate not-organic building materials, adapted to be easily transported by the cave train and manually installed. The exhibition and sales facility is designed in two parts. One part of the pavilion is transparent with four exits, designed in the shape of the letter S, which follows the natural wall. The interior of the building acts as a single flexible space for exhibits and mobile equipment. The building has s sustainable system of heating and ventilation and the first underground biological treatment plant in Slovenia.
