Chrystal Palace
Atelje S, Branko Smolej, Denis Simčič / 2011
The Chrystal Palace is a new city icon that sets the standard for future development of the BTC City shopping centre. It is the tallest building in Slovenia. It is designed as a complex featuring a medley of public and semi-public spaces. The design incorporated the idea of sustainable architecture creating an energy-efficient building that even produces electricity with an in-built solar power plant and is heated with ice. A common green terrace was set up to provide for a quality working environment while the ground floor features open areas with water.
