Franciscan Chapel

Maruša Zorec / 1996

The Franciscan chapel is a small quiet space dedicated to solitary meditation. It is set on the the main Ljubljana square, but once through the discretely designed door that separates the hustle and bustle of a busy Prešernov Square, the atmosphere of the space allows the visitors to find the inner peace. The interior is shaped by a stone wall that separates the main altar from the entrance. The wall in the back is made of wood and it comprises a niche with a statue and a small space for quiet conversation. The rest of the furniture is simple and neutral. The Franciscan chapel, which is set next to the large and busy Franciscan Church and represents its smaller, quieter and more intimate counterpart.
