A House for Modest Pleasures

Matej Gašperič, Biro Gašperič / 2020

How to build a rational and energy efficient family home that nevertheless promises years of carefree living?

From the visual point of view, the house personifies the architectural metaphor of a Slovenian barn. It features compact and highly functional arrangements, structured around a simple, clearly readable 2-storey floor plan.

The natural materials in the interior are complemented with a bare concrete wall. It serves as a thermo mass and supporting structure, giving a solid background to the living space that opens fully onto the southern terrace.
