House by the forrest

Studio Kalamar / 2010

The house is located on the edge of the village near Murska Sobota and opens up to nature on three sides. It resembles the long ground floor houses, characteristical of Prekmurje region. It has a sunny day garden and a shady morning garden. The house is fully open to the south and for the most part of the year exposed to sunlight. When it is too hot, the curtains are lowered and the house cools down from the forest. It has passive and active energy systems and the operational costs are extremely low. The composition of the house is more a result of the creation of external ambiences than of internal layouts.
