Saint John Bosco church in Maribor
Dans arhitekti / 2015
LOCATION: Don Boskov center Maribor, Engelsova cesta 66, Maribor
The oval-shaped church simultaneously resembles a ship, a tent and a dome. A dome with a sun tunnel symbolizes the divine, while the building symbolizes the earthly. As a tent, the church acts as a gathering space for the worshippers. As a ship, the church features a rim, representing the voyage through the sea of life. The ship’s rims are folded as the church opens towards the sky. The brick facade with its glazed brick ornament shows the church nave inside the single floor structure.
