Ljubljanica River Experience and Exhibition site

Delavnica d.o.o. / 2016
LOCATION: Tržaška cesta 32, Vrhnika

The multi-stage revitalization and transformation of the former IUV Vrhnika factory into a cultural centre has been concluded by the Ljubljanica river experience and exhibition site.
The site features three levels: the world below, the water surface and the world above, which present the rich heritage of the Ljubljanica river. The underground level presents archaeological findings of the area and the upper level interprets the findings, offering an insight into the lives of the people from ancient history to modern times. Both levels are connected through the river surface, represented by the floor, with quotations embedded in it. The flow of the river symbolizes the development of the civilization.
The exhibition also features the effects of human activities on natural surroundings. It was partly financed through EGP Financial Mechanism 2009-2014.
