Open House Slovenia kindly invite you to visit the exhibition Experiencing Architecture, which will take place from 15 April to 15 June 2022 on the Jakopič Promenade in the Tivoli Park in Ljubljana.

Architecture is as important for space as language is for a writer. Experience in space is as inevitable as the words we use to address the people around us. We can extract meaning, form a memory or even create a new idea stemming from our personal experience in space. Experience gives us a better understanding. Only a person who understands and knows can make free decisions. Experience in architecture is important for the perception and understanding of space: it is important for people who live in houses, for architects who design buildings and for passers-by who observe these constructions.

The exhibition “Experiencing Architecture” is designed as a conversation between people and architecture. It questions what space means to us, how we live in it and what inspiration we find in it. It opens up walls so that we can imagine how we would feel in these spaces – as creators, residents, critically thinking clients, researchers and simply as ordinary people who move around different spaces as accidental visitors.

Each space has its own content and its own meaning. Each of us has different kinds of experience in space. Shared experience in architecture and a common understanding of space are extremely important, especially for the design of public space, as they bring meaning to it. In this way, the space becomes a carrier of cultural values and fosters a quality life for the whole society.

Open House Slovenia are committed to the responsible management of space using sustainable materials and to inclusive coexistence that combines sustainability and aesthetics. The presented projects of renowned Slovenian architects show various possibilities of using wood, whether in construction, interior or facade cladding.

The exhibition was created under the auspices of the Directorate of Wood Industry Directorate of the Ministry of Economic Development, public agency SPIRIT Slovenia and in cooperation with partners Alfa Natura d.o.o., Ekoart d.o.o., Lumar IG d.o.o., Marles d.o.o., Silvaprodukt d.o.o., Zavarovalnica Triglav d.d., Municipality of Ljubljana and Turizem Ljubljana.
